The traditional art of indian Head Massage is based on the ancient system of medicine known as Ayurveda, which has been practised in India for thousands of years. The word "Ayurveda" comes from Sanskrit and means "the science of longevity". 

The Ayurveda approach to health is the balance of body, mind and spirit, and the promotion of long life. The secret of Ayurveda lies in the prana, the vital force (pra=before, and ana=breath). Strong prana is the source of good health.
Indian Head Massage treatments consist of a range of different massage and pressures and rhythms which are used to stimulate head, neck, upper back and shoulder area. This helps to relieve accumulated tension, stimulate circulation, and restore joint movement. Indian Head Massage works onboth the physical and mental level- it helps all systems of the body such as immune, nervous, respiritory, endocrine, circulation, muscular, skeletal and lymphatic. Mentally, it helps the mind to relax, transmitting a life-giving energy that assists all the systems of the body to restore and renew themselves.

 For Indian Head Massage treatments the client remains fully clothed whilst sitting on a chair. The client can be offered treatment with special oils for massage of the scalp. Applying oil to the head helps to strengthen the hair and remove dryness and, by relaxing the muscles and nerves of the head, fatigue is eliminate bringing about a feeling of being refreshed and revitalised.
